Sport Illumina and Sport and Peripheries: 140 million to restart Italian sport

2025 opened with an important signal for those working in the world of sports facilities: the State has decided to invest with conviction, and the resources on the table are significant.

On the one hand, the "Sport and Peripheries 2025" call for proposals, promoted by the Department for Sport, makes 110 million euros available to Italian municipalities for the development and adaptation of sports infrastructures, with the aim of fostering social inclusion, well-being, and cohesion of local communities. The program is divided into two lines: the first dedicated to the redevelopment of existing facilities with contributions of up to 1.5 million per municipality, the second oriented towards the construction of new multifunctional sports halls in larger centers, with contributions of up to 3 million.

On the other hand, the "Sport Illumina" project, conceived by Sport e Salute with funding of over 30 million, was created in response to the need to give citizens back authentic, accessible, and safe gathering places — modular and inclusive spaces designed for outdoor sports and recreational activities.

Two complementary tools that together outline a concrete map of opportunities for municipalities, local authorities, and sector operators. Because redeveloping a sports facility is never just a technical matter: it is an act of care towards a community.

For Sportgreen, which works daily alongside public and private entities in the design and construction of sports infrastructures, these calls for proposals represent an opportunity to be seized with method and expertise. We closely follow the deadlines and accompany our partners throughout the entire process: from reading the call for proposals to the delivery of the field.
